Harbourside » Overview

The principals of the Trust for Sustainable Development were actively involved in the Harbourside project in Victoria, British Columbia, from 1987 — 1994. The founder of the Trust, David Butterfield, acted as the Executive Director of the not-for-profit South Island Development Cooperative.

Harbourside won virtually every local real estate award available: Best Design, Best Landscape and Project of the Year. The $50 million venture consists of two towers of luxury condominiums and the 132 room Coast Harbourside Hotel, complete with restaurants, health club, and the Harbourside Marina. Built on derelict industrial land, the project has established a new standard for development at Victoria's Inner Harbour. The project created approximately 100 permanent jobs, and has become a landmark on the city's downtown skyline.
